Members of The University of Scranton's undergraduate class of 2018 honored for their academic excellence, service or both at commencement.

Twenty-seven graduates from four area high schools have been awarded the Fred G. Smith Scholarship to attend Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania during the 2018-19 academic year. A total of nearly $45,000 was awarded.

Kutztown University has conferred degrees on more than 1,225 students during the winter and spring semesters. Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish the requirements for graduation throughout the entire year. The cumulative grade point average necessary for honor distinction is: with honor (cum laude) 3.40; with high honor (magna cum laude) 3.60 and with highest honor (summa cum laude) 3.80.

The University of Scranton announced more than 1,650 students were named to The University of Scranton's Dean's List for the 2018 spring semester.

Nearly 1,700 students have been named to the Spring 2018 Dean's List at Kutztown University. To be eligible for the Dean's List, an undergraduate student must be registered for at least 12 credits and have a minimum grade point average of 3.60.

More than 800 students from Saint Francis University made one of the Spring 2018 Honor's Lists: Provost's or Dean's. To achieve either list, students must have full-time status and attain a quality point average of at least 3.8 (Provost's) or 3.5 (Dean's) for the given semester.

A total of 1,621 students have been named to the Dean's List at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania (ESU) for the Spring 2018 semester of the 2017-2018 academic year, according to Joanne Bruno, J.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs. Students eligible for the Dean's List are those who have attained a 3.50 quality point average or better and are enrolled full-time. The letter grade "B" earns 3 quality points per credit, and the grade "A" earns 4 quality points per credit.

Lebanon Valley College congratulates nearly 700 students named to the Dean's List for the spring 2018 semester. Dean's list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0.

The University of Scranton conferred more than 890 bachelor's and associate's degrees at its undergraduate commencement on May 27 at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre. Very Reverend Timothy P. Kesicki, S.J., president of the Jesuit Conference of Canada and the United States, read the remarks of the principal speaker Most Reverend George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of the Diocese of Youngstown, who was unable to attend the ceremony in person because he is undergoing treatment for a form of acute leukemia. Both Father Kesicki and Bishop Murry, in absentia, received honorary degrees from the University. Honorary degrees were also presented to Sister Ann Walsh, I.H.M., former CEO and current assistant director of Friends of the Poor; William Whitaker, founding president of the Washington Jesuit Academy, Washington. D.C.; and Cecelia Lynett Haggerty, Times-Shamrock Communications and former University trustee.

Nearly 500 students celebrated their academic success and achievements during Lebanon Valley College's 149th Commencement Saturday, May 12, in Louis A. Sorrentino Gymnasium.

When the fall 2017 semester ended last December, 11 students at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania began preparing for the international European Union Simulation (Eurosim). As part of a political science course offered over winter break the students, accompanied by L. Johan Eliasson, Ph.D., professor of political science, participated in Eurosim in Brussels, Belgium from January 4-7, 2018. The rigorous, four-day exercise strives to enhance participants' knowledge of international law, the European Union (the world's largest single market, largest economy, and emerging political union, consisting of 28 member states), negotiating strategy, and diplomatic protocol, by negotiating real life legal and policy problems. The 2018 simulation was held at the Free University in Brussels.

America Reads and America Counts is a tutoring opportunity that works with local children in before school, during school and after school programs to help children develop and improve their reading and math skills. Cedar Crest College students work with community children from kindergarten to 12th grade. A total of 110 Lebanon Valley student-athletes have been named to the Middle Atlantic Conference's (MAC) Fall Academic Honor Roll. The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes who compete in a varsity-level sport and registered a term/semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher.
